"Pulchra Terram"
Statement
Using my personal experiences viewing landscapes, this body of work uses abstract memories and/or thoughts of landscapes and incorporates them into the paintings. By using fluid materials, I am able to create images of landscapes that share a similar fluidity, like bodies of water or how the colors in the sky can mix together and how they make something that we call beautiful. Pulchra Terram means “beautiful earth,” which has inspired this body of work. The reason for this body of work is to show what I see as beautiful and making it into a tangible object and use splattering and pouring to blend the colors from my ideas to bring a different perspective to landscape paintings.
